Desde su censura, su relaci\u00f3n indirecta con el asesinato de John Lennon (el asesino llevaba una copia del libro consigo cuando fue arrestado), e incluso hasta el d\u00eda de hoy, no ha dejado de ser una novela problem\u00e1tica, y all\u00ed radica su grandeza. Publicada en 1951, r\u00e1pidamente se consolid\u00f3 como una de las novelas m\u00e1s influyentes del siglo XX. Se destaca por su lenguaje coloquial y crudo, muchas veces visceral, que no deja lugar para adornos y nos ataca directamente. El narrador es nuestro protagonista, Holden Caulfield, un adolescente de 16 a\u00f1os sumamente c\u00ednico y cr\u00edtico. Si bien el protagonista puede resultar irritante y ofensivo, va acorde con el tema del libro y nos deja analizarlo mejor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La novela narra unos pocos d\u00edas de la vida de Holden, en un diciembre navide\u00f1o. Holden es expulsado de la secundaria Pencey, un colegio de la alta sociedad, por no mostrar inter\u00e9s en aprender ni en escuchar. Poco antes de Navidad, Holden debe volver a su hogar, pero mientras tanto decide irse antes de tiempo y vagar por la ciudad de Nueva York, enfrentando su incomodidad por el mundo adulto. La novela explora la transici\u00f3n de la adolescencia hacia la adultez a los ojos del adolescente, el cual ve este mundo como hip\u00f3crita, con una voz desencantada e ir\u00f3nica que se aferra a la poca inocencia que le queda. Holden navega confundido, sinti\u00e9ndose profundamente solo y desconectado, vi\u00e9ndose a s\u00ed mismo en un mundo falso, como un extranjero. \u00c9l sufre por la muerte de su hermano peque\u00f1o, Allie, durante todo el libro, momento en el cual Holden qued\u00f3 traumatizado. Dice desear ser \u00abel guardi\u00e1n entre el centeno\u00bb para proteger a los ni\u00f1os de caerse al vac\u00edo, siendo esta la \u00fanica cosa que \u00e9l desea ser. Esto es un simbolismo de su lucha por mantener la inocencia, no la suya, sino la de los ni\u00f1os. \u00c9l los ve como lo \u00fanico real, los \u00fanicos con los que puede mantener una conexi\u00f3n. Esto se muestra con la relaci\u00f3n con su hermana Phoebe, que es el ser m\u00e1s querido de Holden. Tambi\u00e9n su m\u00edtica gorra de cazador roja es un simbolismo, siendo esta su forma de protegerse del mundo. Por ello, en una parte, Holden le entrega la gorra a Phoebe para proteger lo m\u00e1s valioso que tiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El libro es pol\u00e9mico por su lenguaje soez, su tono pesimista, por tocar el tema de la sexualidad y por su protagonista err\u00e1tico. Aunque tambi\u00e9n es celebrado por la profundidad que tiene a pesar de un argumento tan simple, su honestidad emocional y la capacidad de conectar con la juventud, incluso hoy, m\u00e1s de setenta a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s. <em>El guardi\u00e1n entre el centeno<\/em> es, definitivamente, una lectura obligatoria, digna de ser analizada y comprendida.
